Mudslide kills at least 14 people, injures 35 in Colombia

Heavy rains triggered a mudslide that swept right into a residential space in a western Colombia city Tuesday morning, killing at the very least 14 individuals and injuring 35 others, authorities stated.

Officers stated one individual was reported lacking after the lethal slide in Risaralda, within the municipality of Pereira.

Pereira Mayor Carlos Maya, who confirmed the loss of life toll, warned that the danger of landslide continued within the space and urged individuals to depart to keep away from additional casualties.

Most of the homes within the neighborhood hit are of wood development, and greater than 60 properties have been evacuated as groups assessed the injury and dangers.
